Gilman headed home: Russia released Robert Gilman, a 32-year-old American and former Marine who had been imprisoned there since 2022, after President Donald Trump said he personally pressed Russian President Vladimir Putin for his release.
Trump said Gilman was freed on humanitarian grounds without a prisoner exchange, an account also confirmed by the State Department. Gilman, whose health had seriously deteriorated in Russian custody, is expected to arrive at Joint Base Andrews tonight before receiving further medical treatment in Texas.
