Harris’s measured confidence
After week’s of self-declaring as the underdog in the election, Harris and her top advisors are speaking with a bit more assurance heading into the final stretch.

👋🏾 Hi, hey, hello! Welcome back to Once Upon a Hill. The election is in eight days. Here’s what’s happening today:
The House and Senate are out.
President Joe Biden will receive his daily intelligence briefing before casting his early-voting ballot in Wilmington and returning to the White House. He will also virtually thank active duty and National Guard servicemembers who responded in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene and call elected officials to discuss ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This evening, Biden will speak at a reception in celebration of Diwali.
Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Michigan to speak at campaign events in Saginaw and Macomb before she travels to Ann Arbor to headline a rally alongside her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers.
Gov. Walz will speak at an event in Manitowoc, WI and participate in a campaign event in Waukesha before the rally and concert in Michigan with Harris.
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will travel to Pittsburgh to speak about the stakes of the election.
Mrs. Gwen Walz will campaign with Dr. Biden at a volunteer mobilization event in Traverse City, MI. They will then attend a Women for Harris-Walz event in Bay City on reproductive freedom before concluding the day at an Educators for Harris-Walz event in La Crosse, WI.
Biden’s week ahead:
Tuesday: The president will travel to Baltimore to speak about his economic agenda before traveling to Potomac, MI. Once he’s back at the White House, he'll participate in a campaign call.

Harris’s measured confidence
For most of Vice President Harris’s campaign, she—and anyone publicly speaking on her behalf—rarely missed a moment to remind reporters, donors and supporters that she was the underdog in the election.
